About EFT
What is EFT Tapping?
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as Tapping, is a scientifically supported method that helps release emotional distress, reduce stress, and rewire limiting beliefs. It combines elements of traditional Chinese acupressure with modern psychology. By gently tapping on specific meridian points while focusing on an issue or emotion, EFT helps calm the nervous system and regulate emotions.
How Does EFT Work?
EFT is based on the understanding that unresolved emotions contribute to stress.
-
Tapping on acupressure points sends calming signals to the brain’s amygdala (stress centre), which may positively impact the hippocampus (memory & emotional regulation).
-
Research shows that EFT significantly reduces stress hormones, shifting the body from fight-or-flight into a calmer state.
The Science Behind EFT
Over 100 peer-reviewed studies back EFT’s effectiveness in reducing anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, and emotional distress.
Key findings include:
-
43% reduction in cortisol levels in just one session (Church et al., 2012).
-
EFT is shown to be more effective than traditional talk therapy for anxiety (Clond, 2016).
-
EFT has been proven to reduce emotional eating and support long-term weight management (Stapleton et al., 2011, 2019).
-
Clinical EFT improves multiple psychological markers of health, including reductions in anxiety, depression, and stress (Bach et al., 2018).
